Goodbye from Save[d]ChuckandBlair
With the release of Gossip Girl’s final season, and after two intensive years of campaigning, the saveChuckandBlair campaign is now officially complete. Effective immediately, we will cease updating the saveChuckandBlair accounts on Tumblr and Twitter. We still love and support Chuck and Blair, but our work here is done- now married, with their own family, they truly have been ‘saved’. But Chuck and Blair will always live on in the fandom, through fanart, fanvids and fanfiction. And although we have decided to put the saveChuckandBlair campaign accounts into permanent hiatus, the campaign material will remain available indefinitely, to honor Chuck and Blair as a couple, and to help keep alive the memory of what we have achieved.
Of course, our campaign would not have been possible without the hard work of the many people who have been part of the saveChuckandBlair team over the years. While a lot of them worked entirely behind the scenes, we hope that our fandom knows how blessed it was to have such talented, hard-working people at its disposal. The amount of effort they dedicated to the campaign, which often required a substantial commitment of their own time and resources, was absolutely invaluable to the success of saveChuckandBlair. For our team, the campaign has been a very long journey- from starting as an idea talked about in private by a few people to discussions (XOXO and finally Butterflies) involving dozens of people; and from none of us having any social media knowledge to multiple people coordinating to run massive accounts at the forefront of the fandom. Given the divisiveness of the Gossip Girl fandom, it was inevitable that the campaign had its share of intrigue, subterfuge, double agents, setbacks, arguments, tears, and laughter- but at its heart, it was always guided by a sincere appreciation of Chuck and Blair, and a commitment to stand by them through anything.
We know for a fact that when Gossip Girl began, Chuck and Blair were not originally conceived as an endgame couple; it was largely due to overwhelming fan support that they became the super-couple they are recognized as today. By the middle seasons of Gossip Girl, however, unfortunate storyline decisions had led to growing despondency and attrition among the Chuck and Blair fandom. Thus, the saveChuckandBlair campaign was born.
When we started the saveChuckandBlair campaign we had several key mandates:
- To promote appreciation of Chuck and Blair as a couple,
- To improve the morale of the Chuck and Blair fandom, and
- To inform TPTB of what the Chuck and Blair fandom hoped to see in the remaining Gossip Girl episodes, by mobilizing fans to participate in polls, trends, and petitions
SEVENTY World Wide Twitter Trends for Gossip Girl). Furthermore, the saveChuckandBlair campaign has been publicly acknowledged by two of the Gossip Girl executive producers, and just our Tumblr account has been visited by almost ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND people from ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY FIVE countries. We leave the fandom with our Tumblr having TWELVE THOUSAND followers; our Twitter having EIGHT THOUSAND followers; and our Facebook having SIX THOUSAND likes! We hope you have enjoyed the results of our campaign as much as we have, and we hope that we have left the Chuck and Blair fandom a richer place for having been here.
SaveChuckandBlair would also like to thank everyone in the fandom for supporting our campaign and making it such a huge success. There would have been no campaign without the fans, and we are so grateful for every single one of you. We would particularly like to thank the many Chuck and Blair fansites and forums that helped promote us. Our Twitter account would like to recognize the accounts that helped promote our trending topics, especially @GG_quotes. Our Tumblr account would like to recognize the following accounts who contributed to the campaign by creating trending posters (ordered by level of contribution):

Finally, we would like to thank those behind the super-couple of Chuck and Blair: Cecily von Ziegesar, for creating these characters; Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, for taking them from the page to the TV screen and conceiving their love story; and lastly, the incredible Ed Westwick and Leighton Meester, whose unparalleled talent and insane chemistry made Chuck and Blair into the worldwide phenomenon that they became. Thank you all, for creating a couple so beloved that from their first moment, through six seasons of highs and lows, they were always worth saving.
Farewell,
The save[d]ChuckandBlair team (especially the people currently running our accounts: P, S, C, T and I)
So much love! Its been a great experience and we proved a motivated positive fanbase can make all the difference!
Anonymous asked: "I think the writers don’t see either Dan or Blair as ever the bad guy in any situation so handling DB was an issue because it made them both that. You can’t have Dan pay for DB and have Blair skate and vice versa so the best way is to just play it down. " I do not comprehend this whatsoever bc anyone who has any intelligence can see Dan was absolutely filthy in S5, they wrote him ABSOLUTELY FILTHY. It went light years beyond bad and the vast majority of ardent fans and the casual audience-
-reacted like that. 1st, i dont understand how people put what he did to Serena, which was horrible, abovehow they wrote him towards Blair in S4 and 5. I absolutely wanted to vomit from the first second of that SL in S4- the entire thing was sickening. Then ENTIRE SL was something Blair would NEVER do, the books/movie nonsense was PATHETIC writing, on top of which she never would even MILDLY like Dan as a person. The only interaction that worked is her seeing the human in him, being nice like-
-but still completely herself like S2 which most of the audience enjoyed (though i know a lot of ppl who hated him coming near CB in 208.) She would NEVER find him interesting in a mil. years. But the BIGGEST point is Blair, I have always believed, is extremely sharp and intelligent and she can read people very easily and is very intuitive and perceptive and she would never do an IOTA of what they wrote during the Dan SL in S4 and ESPECIALLY S5,even 6- 601,4,5,6, his GG reveal, his being w/S etc
His behaviour towards her was written COMPLETELY as COMPLETELY twisted and sick- keeping C away from her after seeing him literally trying to KILL HIMSELF over losing her, a pregnant and frightened young girl letting her stay in that state, seeing she needs/wants C, telling her nothing about what he saw w/ C, telling C nothing about her… the girl loses a baby in an accident, almost loses the guy he knows she loves more than anything, she goes through all of that and then is doing INSANE things
-like keeping PACTS W/ GOD, going to Church every. day, completely frightened and hurt and desperate to be w/ the man she loves and not giving her A WORD of advice any sane person would, not telling her to go to the man she loves and her bf who he knows is her sister, both of whom she needs DESPERATELY. Not going to them, telling them all these insane happenings. They wrote him as literally psychotic and the FURTHEST thing from a well wisher, he had the FURTHEST thing from her well being inmind-
-Then he encourages this girl to MARRY a man she does not love bc of a PACT, encourages her insanity and fears to the fullest. And he knows how much C loves this girl. (the line in S6 about not wanting C to get the girl just compounded all this, it made him even dirtier), he has seen Cs vulnerability, how madly he loves her, knows about his childhood etc. Then he blames C, tells her when she is completely frightened and when she needs her C and her family desperately. Then he manipulates C-
-Blair(not C- typo) when she is so completely frightened and knowing she almost lost C, her baby, how much she loves C- every single step of the way, bad mouths C, isolates her from C and the people who are her family, that she has grown up w/ -N/S, and her family. Does everything in his power to scare and manipulate her and then has sex w/ her while she is like this. He was written as completely pyschotic and twisted, it went FAR beyond horrible behaviour/being a douche bag etc.
-They wrote him like this from the first moment in S5 and it multiplied infinitely. The second he saw her vulnerablity over Chuck in S4 he tried his best to get her to depend on him, it was sick. On top of all this as someone said the entire SL from the very beginnng got an HUGE negative reaction and the vast audience hated it bc of what they were doing to Blair. I’m sorry this was so long but its such a glaring huge subject to me. xx
Ok so I don’t disagree with you but I think the show does if that makes sense. I understand how you feel and I certainly believe Dan’s behavior towards Vanessa in S3/4, Serena in S4/5/6 and Blair in S5/6 was disgusting and horrible and awful and the worst. The problem is the show doesn’t. Let’s start with Vanessa. Not my favorite character but she was screwed over by Dan and the writers tried to sort of make it her fault. There was no acknowledgment by Dan that he screwed her over or that he was a horrible friend or boyfriend. There was not even an acknowledgment that he missed their friendship even though she was literally his only real friend. On top of that they had Dan bring her up to Blair in S6 as if Vanessa was so horrible. UGGGHHH Dan you are already the worst and I have not even got to Blair, Serena and Gossip Girl.
Let’s move on to the Blair and Serena of it all. Even though Dan did isolate Blair is S5 and did give her horrible advice and maybe used an opportunity where she was weak and spiraling to get in there I don’t know if the show sees it that way. Blair was given tons of chances in S5 to not be isolated. Serena and Chuck killed themselves trying to be great friends to her and Blair wanted no part of it. I mean it’s easy to speculate the reasons why Blair acted the way she did and I do think the show left some hints and clues and options for all of us but we don’t know. The facts are as they are. Blair did not feel bad about Serena. She did not feel bad about hurting Serena. She did not feel bad that she was isolated from her friends. She does not feel bad about hurting Chuck or turning Chuck away. The only thing that changed everything was Chuck saying he was moving on and Dan wanting an immediate I love you
Gossip Girl is the kind of show that does not reality stand in the way of the story they want to tell. They wanted to do a quick DB relationship before bringing CB back together again but unfortunately they were too scared to really explore the idea of Dan and Blair as horrible people or as people that made a huge mistake. So instead IMO they just decided that Dan was someone who was just too compassionate and giving and who was so envious of the lifestyle of these people and who just wanted Serena so badly to be the person he wanted her to be that he ended up trying to create that in Blair. And Blair is supposed to be this strong female who puts herself first, who can’t be stopped once she establishes a goal and who was so scared of loving Chuck that she did not care who she hurt. The problem is they struggle to really translate the story they want to tell to the screen and also by not really addressing how awful Blair and Dan were being it makes them seem even worse. Having Blair struggle with how she was hurting Serena or having her genuinely apologize for what she did to Serena and explain why would not have made Blair weak it would have made the whole DB story make more sense. Having Dan explain why he woke up one day obsessed with Blair even though he knew she would always love Chuck would have been helpful to the audience. I don’t think it would have made me like Dan less (I mean there is not a lot lower to go).
Finally the elephant in the room that is Dan is GG. The problem and the best thing about Dan being GG is how it changes every single story he was in since the first episode. It also makes Dan a crazy ass stalker and the most scary cast member. So the answer to every Dan story now includes the knowledge that he is GG and therefore someone to be very concerned about. Unfortunately because this is GG instead of dealing with that they just declared him a writer of love letters, expressed amusement and joy, judged Blair for thinking it was the worst and then waited 5 years and let Serena marry her stalker. Sigh…
Anyways not sure if I made any sense or if this was helpful to you but the moral of my story is this. Dan was the worst before we found out he was GG and he is the real worst after but unfortunately the writers just don’t see it that way. Luckily for us even if they don’t see it they absolutely write it.
Anonymous asked: So what did you think of the trunk scene and EL in it and the length of it, and also the scenes at the beginning where they are escaping, and thoughts on the Bnnie and Clyde comparisons? I feel like Blair is only concerned about him and his safety and his well being and not herself, like in the trunk scene, and I wish they had written it better- it is SO simple to do these things, like if she had ran her hand through his hair or on his face. And other things that are so imp and its incredible-
-incredible that they dont do that are the things the audience want SO much and considers extremely important like CB scenes, not one scene, with Henry. They could hv done that AND the Eleanor scenes. A CB conversation to reflect their growth in the FF, a kiss inthe FF!! Kisses through the season. A frightened Blair reuniting w Chuck in 609 after seeing him was SO important I think. She would have run into his arms the first chance she got, her v foundations were shaken at the possibility of-
-seriously hurt, let alone what she would have felt at the possibility of him being dead. The DS wedding was complete BS and such weak weak writing. SB along w CB are the foundation of this show. The lack of SB in S6 is incredible, let alone scenes that resolve their rel thoroughly in the the few eps, not even the last two, is shocking, nothing for the rel that forms the basis of the show, to show how imp they are to each other and the show, to show the depth of their rel that was in 103 scene.
Sorry its taken me all this time to get to this.
I mean yes there were some strange decisions made in the final episodes. I have no understanding why they did not have Blair in any scenes with Henry. I mean forever confused. I also have so many questions about Chuck and the plane crash and agree that they should have rushed to each other in some sort of passionate embrace. That being said for how many times Chuck has escaped death the show has always been very reluctant to show peoples reactions to Chuck being near death. I point out that I am not sure Nate even knows about the time Chuck was shot.
That being said I liked the trunk scene and all scenes of them escaping. I especially loved them lying on the bed and Blair sleeping and Chuck’s hand on her. Those are the little moments that make me love CB more.
I can not possibly discuss the lack of SB in the finale or even in the final season. Its unfortunate the show decided to give abandon the core friendship of the show.
DS will forever and ever be for me a sad ending for Serena. Dan’s story of being Gossip Girl and the lengths he went to fit in and the way he consistently took such joy in hurting Serena …. I secretly wonder if they did DS and Dan as GG to get back at all the Dan fangirls who started fake abuse campaigns because they were jealous of Chuck being so popular. On the other hand the show kind of set us up early with Dan. As soon as Serena told him in S1 how he can’t be worse than the guys she knows warning bells should have gone off because the writers love to hurt Serena. So much sigh….
Anonymous asked: The writing overall was really shitty in S6, im not comparing to S4/5, just shitty in general and the one thing I just DO NOT GET is after everything they did, how do JS, SS or the writers in general think, especially with the vast overwhelming negative reaction to the whole Blair Dan SL in S4 and ESP. 5, what disgusted most ppl was how the destroyed Blair during it, that they could have Blair not see AT ALL or address how Dan manipulated and used her and how he hurt Chuck, in S6?!?
I agree the writing was not great in S6. I mean I think S1 and S2 were worlds better for sure. I do think 10 episodes would be hard to fix all the damage that S4/S5 did but still. I feel like the writers dropped little things in S6 that could be cobbled together to piece together why DB happened but who knows. I think the writers don’t see either Dan or Blair as ever the bad guy in any situation so handling DB was an issue because it made them both that. You can’t have Dan pay for DB and have Blair skate and vice versa so the best way is to just play it down. All that being said the biggest issue with S6 was deciding to waste all the early episodes on Sage. No idea who put together that brilliant plan but I am concerned they have never watched TV.
Anonymous asked: I LOVE that shot in 610 at the beginning where they are standing on the street and she has her arms around his neck, Chuck, and Ed too, is so cool in that scene, and its like she's his Blair again, the Blair I LOVE,one that loves him madly and will be with him through anything, without question, and his attitude is like he knows this, despite all the negativity, he's cool and secure, that it's his Blair and he has nothing to worry about. Also, he's looking at her so sexually there, like bc of it
Sorry it has taken me so long to get to all these comments and thanks to whoever reminded me. I am horrible at tumblr.
That sequence is amazing. I think the show has always done a great job of showing CB communicating without words and just being able to get on the same page immediately. I also loved it because it was such a contrast to when Bart died the first time (so much sigh) Remember Chuck stumbling and Nate/Blair trying to get him to the funeral and Blair running after him on the street and him rejecting her support and help? This time was so different with them immediately working together and Chuck being very calm and not feeling that crushing guilt and anger anymore. Anyways I absolutely think it was great showing the progression of their relationship and how strong they are now.
Anonymous asked: The fact that the show does not let Blair address how her actions hurt both Chuck and Serena sucks and it hurts Blair as a character. - YES but why, do you think their is thought behind this or is just awful ridiculous writing?
Josh Safran said once that he never knew how his stories would end when he started them and as a viewer that was always very evident, unfortunately I think that continued minus Safy in S6. Gossip Girl writers do not do a great job of giving you a pay off scene. Its like they write themselves into a corner and then get scared about writing the pivotal next scene so just have the characters declare what happened and move on. I think they did this with the Blouis/royal wedding story, with CB in Monte Carlo, DB break up, Blair’s pact with God, Blair/Serena……I could go on forever.
Yes I think the fact that the Blair fans would have gone insane played a part in this but right now I am giving the majority of the blame to just not knowing how to finish a story.

Did anyone know he was hiding a body like this????
